DIY Dinosaur Bookend!

How many of us mommies have littles that love dinosaurs?
I have been updating my eldest son’s room to a big boy toddler room.  He wanted to go with dinosaur theme bedroom.  As I was shopping,  a dinosaur bookend was on that list of things I wanted to add to his room. Well go figure I couldn’t find one so I thought,” I guess I will have to make one myself!”
Before you say I don’t need a dinosaur bookend!  You can recreate this look with any other type of toy (such as an elephant, giraffe, unicorn, truck, or car). There are so many different colors of spray paint you can choose from to match the theme to your child’s bedroom.

So let’s get started!!!!

Supplies needed:

  1. Any old dinosaur toy laying around (so your not spending money on this)
  2. Super adhesive glue that dries clear https://amzn.to/3omFIS0
  3. 2 wooden square plaques https://amzn.to/3yjpaPl
  4.  spray paint of your choice (I chose black since that is what I had)  https://amzn.to/3hx4CNF

Next you need to apply the super glue to the sides of the wood sqaures that will form a 90 degree angle or an L shape. Apply the glue to the front and back part of the wood.  Let the glue dry.

Once the glue has dried up you can sand your wood for a smoother look. This step is completely optional or you could sand the wood prior to applying the glue.

Than you get our can of spray paint and go to town spraying from side to side, up and down. Let the spray paint dry before going to the next step. I only needed to do one coat of the spray paint.

Last step is to glue the toy dinosaur onto the wood. And that’s it you have a dinosaur bookend!!!

* Another optional tip is you can seal your wood if you would like more of a shine. I chose to opt out of this step. I loved the look without sealing it.

I attached the link to my youtube channel for my visual peeps!

Overall this DIY project cost me $2.99.  All i needed to purchase was the wooden square plaques, If you head out to hobby lobby you can get a set of 2 wood plaques for $2.99.   All the other products for this project I already had on hand.  I did apply some affiliated links to find products easier above in the “supplies needed section”.

Unfortunately hobby lobby is currently sold out of the wooden square plaques online, so I linked ones from amazon.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY!
